Further develop your knowledge of critical appraisal.
This one-day workshop is highly interactive and aims to extend your ability to critically appraise research evidence to include diagnostic and screening studies and qualitative research with the opportunity to take home some tips and ideas back to your workplace.

During the workshop, the facilitator will share materials and examples to illustrate important teaching points.

This workshop assumes some knowledge of critical appraisal but does not require attendees to have completed part 1.

At the end of the course you will:

- understand the basic steps involved in appraising a Diagnostic/Screening Test and have worked through an example as a group exercise
- be able to calculate Sensitivity and Specificity and describe their uses
- understand the basic steps involved in appraising Qualitative Research and have worked through an example as a group exercise
- have been given some tips for taking the skills learned back to the workplace
- be offered a support mechanism to take back to the workplace.

John Blenkinsopp
John is a clinical effectiveness advisor and trainer who has over 20 years experience of running courses in critical appraisal.

Originally a medical librarian, John has also run a number of critical appraisal courses for the London Deanery, Department of Health, Kings Fund, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Health Education England and a number of trusts and medical charities up and down the country.
